About the guide
An independent guide to French vehicle paperwork
Le Guide de l'Immatriculation is an independent editorial publication. We explain carte grise procedures, buying and selling, importing vehicles, and the everyday changes that trigger new paperwork in France. Each guide starts from the situation that brings you here, then lists the steps in plain language.
We do not sell registration services or represent any administration. Our aim is simple: help you understand which procedure applies, which documents to prepare, and where to complete each step with the official service.
Our method
How we check every guide
We start from official French sources, including legal texts and public service pages, and compare them before publishing a procedure. Fees, timelines, and required documents are checked against current official information before each guide goes live.
Every guide displays its update date. When a rule changes, we revise the page and note the change. Where the official route is the only reliable answer, we link to it directly so you can confirm the current details before you submit anything.

Our independence
We are an independent publication. We are not the French State, France Titres, or ANTS, and we do not process registrations on their behalf.
